'' L�;'� • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 462 14 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH AND <br /> DEVELOPMENT TO AWARD FUNDS TO THE HAWAII COUNTY <br /> ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code (2005 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 to nonprofit <br /> organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the grant funds and <br /> the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance or resolution.; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County Code <br /> states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than profit- <br /> making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the Internal <br /> Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, the HCEOC which qualifies as a nonprofit organization as defined <br /> above, works to promote economic opportunities in the County of Hawai'i; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development wishes to provide <br /> $210,000 to the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council (HCEOC); and <br /> WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to supplement the operation of a <br /> Transmedia Accelerator Program (TAP), encouraging economic diversification, creating <br /> employment opportunities, and supporting innovation in the field of media production. <br /> This funding continues the County's involvement in the project, which was first funded in <br /> the amount of$113,000 in FY 2013-14; and <br />
