'' L�;'� • STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 462 14 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT TO AWARD FUNDS TO THE HAWAII COUNTY ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County Code (2005 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance or resolution.; and WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than profit- making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the Internal Revenue Code; and WHEREAS, the HCEOC which qualifies as a nonprofit organization as defined above, works to promote economic opportunities in the County of Hawai'i; and WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development wishes to provide $210,000 to the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council (HCEOC); and WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to supplement the operation of a Transmedia Accelerator Program (TAP), encouraging economic diversification, creating employment opportunities, and supporting innovation in the field of media production. This funding continues the County's involvement in the project, which was first funded in the amount of$113,000 in FY 2013-14; and
