0 0
DECEMBER 21, 1998
Janet Rychener
PO Box 186
Naalehu, HI 96772
County Council
County of Hawaii
25 Aupuni Street
Hilo, HI 96720
Dear Council Member,
I am concerned for the future of my grand children. I learned that the council is holding
hearings about marijuana eradication.
I support the marijuana eradication program. Marijuana is unhealthy for the youth and
could lead to other more serious types of drug use.
Please continue drug education. I also want more alternatives for the youth so we can
keep them away from temptation. I want my grand children to grow up in an
environment as free as possible from the influences of marijuana.
A reduction in marijuana will lead to a reduction in violence. Marijuana patches are a
danger to hikers, hunters, plant gatherers, and neighbors of growing areas who may
stumble across the patches and growers.
I want funding to enhance substance abuse treatment centers. I think in -jail therapy
programs for prisoners would help them to develop coping skills and insights into their
drug abuse.
I want the eradication program to continue aerial spraying, if it is effective in destroying
the marijuana crop.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
