.. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII . :�` � ; STATE OF HAWAII <br /> art Of M►� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 474 14 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO THE MASS TRANSIT AGENCY TO <br /> IMPLEMENT A NEW BUS ROUTE IN HILO TO BENEFIT STUDENTS ATTENDING <br /> THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AT HILO. <br /> WHEREAS, the Mass Transit Agency and the Hele-On Bus provide public <br /> transportation services to residents and tourists islandwide; and <br /> WHEREAS, the University of Hawai`i at Hilo (UHH) is Hawai`i County's major <br /> instititution of higher learning and academic excellence, with 3,828 students enrolled in the <br /> Spring 2014 academic semester; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawai`i residents account for approximately 68 percent, or 2,613 students <br /> enrolled for the Spring 2014 academic semester; and <br /> WHEREAS, bus service between the UHH, Downtown Hilo and the Prince Kuhio Plaza <br /> (PKP) during the academic year, excluding holidays, will promote students' health and well- <br /> being, and provide economic stimulus to local businesses in Downtown Hilo and at PKP; and <br /> WHEREAS, this new bus route will commence on August 1, 2014, with intent to <br /> continue the program if it proves successful and self-sustaining at the end of the semester; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to <br /> the Mass Transit Agency to implement a new bus route between the University of Hawai`i at <br /> Hilo, Downtown Hilo, and the Prince Kuhio Plaza; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br /> FUND: GENERAL <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> APPROPRIATION: $2,000 <br /> OUT AND FROM: <br /> 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC—Contingency Relief $2,000 <br />
