It is call Space Mining as
the loose material on the surface (of Mars, Moon,Asteroids)can be collected
and processed to extract valuable and needed resources such as oxygen, water,
and materials. Robots will perform the collecting, and this competition pits
various designs against performance. Systems engineering at its finest.
PRISM extends the highly successful NASA Robotic Mining Competition held
annually at Kennedy Space Center with college teams by placing the venue out
of a "laboratory"setting of a confined regolith arena into our NASA-tested high-
fidelity Mars and Lunar Analog test site at Mauna Kea, 9,000 ft level.
PRISM also re-opens this event to international teams once welcomed at NASA
when the event was called Lunabotics, but now as the RMC is restricted to US
teams only. This will now be the only venue where these global teams can
compete against the US Champion.
RD ED Contingency Funds Forms Word
