YOi M1 <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII <br /> •+• ? t � STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 512 14 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br /> TO AWARD FUNDS TO PEOPLES ADVOCACY FOR TRAILS HAWAII <br /> (PATH) <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County Code <br /> (2005 Edition as amended) states, grant awards in excess of$25,000 to nonprofit organizations <br /> shall specifically identify the organization receiving the grant funds and the purpose for which <br /> the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance or resolution.; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County Code states, <br /> "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than profit-making purposes <br /> and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the Internal Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works was awarded $94,329.27 from the State of <br /> Hawaii Department of Transportation for the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program, which <br /> was appropriated via Ordinance 14-95, effective July 10, 2014; and <br /> WHEREAS, Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawaii (PATH), which qualifies as a nonprofit <br /> organization as defined above, will serve as the SRTS program coordinator; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works wishes to provide this $94,329.27 to PATH; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to execute the SRTS program for the County of <br /> Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, the PATH organization will work closely with the Department of Public <br /> Works to identify barriers and infrastructure solutions, as well as to organize local campaigns to <br /> engage parents and caregivers; now, therefore <br />
