�tY Oi,. , <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII :• ��''° �� • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> r- Of M•�_• <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 516 14 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE PROSECUTING <br /> ATTORNEY TO AWARD FUNDS TO READ ALOUD AMERICA <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code (2005 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 to nonprofit <br /> organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the grant funds and <br /> the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance or resolution.; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County Code <br /> states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than profit- <br /> making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the Internal <br /> Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, Read Aloud America qualifies as a nonprofit organization as defined <br /> above; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney wishes to provide $100,000 to <br /> Read Aloud America; and <br /> WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to pay for the costs to continue to <br /> implement the Read Aloud Program (RAP) in Hawai'i County schools; and <br /> WHEREAS, Read Aloud America will work closely with the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney for monitoring and reporting activities; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in <br /> accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br />
