WAIMEA PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION <br /> P.O.Box 6570 <br /> Kamuela, HI 96743 <br /> April 30,2014 <br /> Support testimony for County of Hawai'i resolution no.404 14 <br /> Honorable County Council Chair and Councilmembers, <br /> The Waimea Preservation Association board of directors are pleased and honored to support the above resolution <br /> that would provide our Waimea regional community with a centrally located and well known gathering place as a <br /> CERT presence for North Hawai'i. <br /> Waimea Preservation Association (WPA) is the sponsoring non-profit in collaboration with the Historic Spencer <br /> House project committee to preserve a culturally and historic cornerstone structure in the center of town for local <br /> families and visitors alike to meet and gain information important to their heritage,cultural,safety and well-being. <br /> The addition of CERT presence would wholeheartedly enhance public awareness, participation and education <br /> necessary for our North Hawai'i communities to be prepared for any interruption in our quality of life caused by an <br /> all-encompassing emergency situation. f' <br /> Waimea Preservation Association(WPA) is a community-based non-profit organization, started in 1993, dedicated <br /> to preserving the character and history of Waimea and encouraging community awareness in the rich cultural <br /> heritage of the Waimea district. In our past,we have housed the start of such events as Old Hawai'i on Horseback, <br /> Real Beef by Real Cowboys, Waimea Main Street and Waimea Visitor Attraction Program.
