�J<V OF N�1 COUNTY OF HAWAII •_ • STATE OF HAWAII r� oF•M►r► RESOLUTION NO. 543 14 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING /APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE NORTH KOHALA COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER FOR THE NORTH KOHALA RADIO TO DELIVER PROGRAMMING WITH A LOCAL FOCUS. WHEREAS, the North Kohala Radio (KNKR) will begin operation by mid -2015 as a financially sustainable, low power, and noncommercial FM radio station serving the North Kohala community; and WHEREAS, KNKR's mission of building community through an emphasis on inclusiveness and broad participation in providing local focus programming; and WHEREAS, KNKR will provide daily news about all aspects of community life; emergency broadcasts and advisories; all weather, traffic, surf, hunting and fishing updates; forums on community affairs and issues with call -in and in- studio public dialogue; student broadcasts with a focus on young people's issues and experiences; remote coverage and support of all important community and sports events; and music, hula, dance, art and cultural expressions and conversations with local artists including heritage programs; and WHEREAS, KNKR will promote free broadcast training at all levels for all Kohala students and residents; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2- 139(a)(2) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department /agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, or event for which the grant shall be used; and WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the North Kohala Community Resource Center for the North Kohala Radio station; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the following amount is hereby transferred /appropriated as set forth below: FUND: GENERAL AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $2,000
