REQUEST: <br /> This is a request to enter into an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement <br /> Administration (DEA) for the purpose of paying some of the costs of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney <br /> staff member who is assigned to the Hawaii Airport Task Force. Payment to the county will only be for <br /> overtime salary and not include benefits, FICA or other expenses. <br /> Please create an Ordinance to appropriate funds up to $17,374.00 for the period covering October 1, 2014 <br /> thru September 30, 2015. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney (OPA) participates in the Hawaii Airport Task Force. Periodically the <br /> Taks Force requests the assistance of the staff of the OPA. The DOJ DEA supports the OPA by providing <br /> cost-reimbursement for overtime incurred by OPA staff in the carrying out of duties requested by the Hawaii <br /> Airport Task Force (HATF). OPA staff assist in: disrupting illicit drug traffic in Hawaii, gathering and reporting <br /> intelligence data and conducting undercover operations. <br /> Reimbursement for costs only includes overtime payments to the OPA staff assigned to the HATF for duties <br /> carried out at the direction of the HATF.
