JMtY OF hy►'•, COUNTY OF HAWAII i-ii\- / STATE OF HAWAII OF N.' - RESOLUTION NO. 584 14 A RESOLUTION URGING THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT TO REQUEST AN AMENDMENT TO THE PERMIT ISSUED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO OPERATE THE VOLCANO TRANSFER STATION TO ALLOW PLACEMENT OF A SLAB,WATER TANK, AND STORAGE SHED FOR USE BY THE VOLCANO COMMUNITY FOR ITS COQUI FROG CONTROL EFFORTS AND ITS VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT. WHEREAS, the Volcano Transfer Station is located on TMK: 1-9-001:002; and WHEREAS, the Volcano community is suffering from the noise of thousands of coqui frogs that have invaded the community; and WHEREAS, the Volcano community is desirous of obtaining a 10,000 gallon water tank to support coqui eradication and for use as a back-up water tank for the Volcano Volunteer Fire Department; and WHEREAS, the Volcano community is desirous of obtaining a storage shed in which to store equipment and citric acid for coqui eradication. The shed will have gutters to collect rainwater for the water tank; and WHEREAS, the Cooper Center Council, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is willing to oversee the procurement and placement of the concrete slab, the water tank, and the shed which will be built and placed by the Volcano community using volunteer labor; and WHEREAS, the Hawai`i County Department of Environmental Management has agreed to allow for the placement of the water tank and the storage shed on the parcel where the Volcano Transfer Station is located; and WHEREAS, the permit to operate the Volcano Transfer Station, as issued by the State Department of Health, must be amended to allow for construction of the slab, water tank, and storage shed; now, therefore,
