JMtY OF hy►'•, <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII i-ii\- / STATE OF HAWAII <br /> OF N.' - <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 584 14 <br /> A RESOLUTION URGING THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL <br /> MANAGEMENT TO REQUEST AN AMENDMENT TO THE PERMIT ISSUED BY <br /> THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO OPERATE THE VOLCANO TRANSFER <br /> STATION TO ALLOW PLACEMENT OF A SLAB,WATER TANK, AND STORAGE <br /> SHED FOR USE BY THE VOLCANO COMMUNITY FOR ITS COQUI FROG <br /> CONTROL EFFORTS AND ITS VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT. <br /> WHEREAS, the Volcano Transfer Station is located on TMK: 1-9-001:002; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Volcano community is suffering from the noise of thousands of coqui <br /> frogs that have invaded the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Volcano community is desirous of obtaining a 10,000 gallon water tank <br /> to support coqui eradication and for use as a back-up water tank for the Volcano Volunteer Fire <br /> Department; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Volcano community is desirous of obtaining a storage shed in which to <br /> store equipment and citric acid for coqui eradication. The shed will have gutters to collect <br /> rainwater for the water tank; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Cooper Center Council, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is willing to oversee the <br /> procurement and placement of the concrete slab, the water tank, and the shed which will be built <br /> and placed by the Volcano community using volunteer labor; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i County Department of Environmental Management has agreed <br /> to allow for the placement of the water tank and the storage shed on the parcel where the <br /> Volcano Transfer Station is located; and <br /> WHEREAS, the permit to operate the Volcano Transfer Station, as issued by the State <br /> Department of Health, must be amended to allow for construction of the slab, water tank, and <br /> storage shed; now, therefore, <br />
