�JMt-1 os h��1 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII ATE Gi •N�,'p RESOLUTION NO. 602 14 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING /APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HO`OMALU KA`U FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A BUS SHELTER AND TO HIRE A SITE PLANNER. WHEREAS, Ho`omalu Ka`u is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is located in Nd'alehu, Hawaii, and its mission is to perpertuate, protect, and conserve the lands, health, knowledge, culture, and history of Ka`u and its people; and WHEREAS, Ho`omalu Ka`u owns 15 acres of native, dry -land forest, which borders the State of Hawai`i's Manuka Natural Area Reserve; and WHEREAS, Ho`omalu Ka`u will construct a Heritage Center of Ka`u on its property, which will include a bus shelter, a comfort station, and scenic byways kiosk that will provide information to the public about Ka`u; and WHEREAS, the bus shelter will be constructed by volunteers and serve both the passengers of Mass Transit's Hele -On buses and tour buses; and WHEREAS, Ho`omalu Ka`u is requesting funds for construction materials to build the bus shelter, and the remaining funds will be used to hire a professional site planner who will design the location of the Heritage Center of Ka`u and placement of the comfort station, bus shelter, and scenic byways kiosk; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2- 139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department /agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Mass Transit Agency to provide a grant to Ho`omalu Ka`u to construct a bus shelter and to hire a professional site planner; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the following amount is hereby transferred /appropriated as set forth below:
