Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year, for a
new multi -year lease agreement of one copy machine for the Department of Public Works. The
copier being replaced is seven years old and does not function properly. Additionally,
replacement parts are obsolete and difficult to obtain. The estimated lease cost is approximately
$155 per month.

Resolution to allow the department to enter into a multi -year lease for a copier for the Department of Public
Works Automotive Division.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Automotive Division's current copier is 7 years old and has not been working properly. Vendor has been
unable to repair copier and replacement parts are obsolete /difficult to find. A properly functioning copier is
vital to our division's daily operations and is also used by other County agencies to keep record of
vehicle /equipment repair orders generated. Lease of a copier will cost approximately $155 per month in a
five year lease.

Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above - referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
