COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF- THE MAYOR TO ENTER <br />INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE HAWAII HEALTH SYSTEMS <br />CORPORATION, HILO MEDICAL CENTER, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, <br />TO PROVIDE DISPOSAL SERVICES OF NON -HOSPITAL INFECTIOUS <br />WASTE FROM THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT'S EMERGENCY <br />MEDICAL SERVICES BUREAU <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) <br />Bureau generates infectious waste during emergency medical responses; and <br />WHEREAS, the disposal of this waste must be in compliance with State of <br />Hawaii Rules,,title 11, Chapter 104. 1, Management and Disposal of Infectious Waste; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, Hilo Medical Center has a <br />collection and disposal facility for infectious waste which is compliant with the <br />requirements indicated above; and <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County <br />departments obtain the consent of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal <br />or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers <br />granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in <br />connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers; now, <br />therefore, <br />
