I am very dismayed and upset that this type of favoritism can be so
flagrantly displayed and flaunted in the public eye! The very reason that developers choose to enter
into this type of business is the prospect of large profits, and the decision to develop a piece of land
is based on market predictions, costs, etc.. The risks are calculated into the profit mazgin. In this
case, the developer also happens to be a Bishop Trustee, collecting a salary that would stagger the
minds of most of us!
And now that his calculations weren't as accurate as predicted in 1993 and the profits won't put
him even further up the scale from rich to nauseatingly rich, he wants to cry to the county to relieve
him of his obligations for roads, parks and schools to support the very community he will never live
in!! Shame on him and shame on you for abusing the powers granted to you by the public. What
are you going to say to those families who invest their precious, hazd-earned income into homes,
and then find that there is no safe exit, parks for their children to play in or room in the school for
quality education? Are the rest of us supposed to pay for these services through our taxes while
the developers live in their mansions in Kahala and send their kids to private schools?
Please stand up for what you know in your hearts is the right thing and stick to the requirements
originally imposed on the subdivision in 1993. I applaud Council member Curtis Tyler For opposing
the exemption and urge the other members to do the same. Don't worry... the developers will still
continue to live their comfortable lifestlyes....way above those of the families living in the new
subdivision!
member of OUR Town,
an Thompson
