Dear Chairman Kanuha and Council Members
<br />It is my pleasure to nominate Ms. Susan E. Fischer of Council District 9 to the County of Hawaii
<br />Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission. Ms. Fischer is
<br />a 52 -year resident of Hawaii. From 2009 – 2014, she was a member of the North Kohala
<br />Community Development Plan Action Committee. During that same time, Ms. Fischer also
<br />served on that committee's Power, Viewplanes, Erosion Control Subcommittee. Ms. Fischer is
<br />an active member of the North Kohala Coast Volunteer Fire Company 14 -Alpha, and has been
<br />serving since 1994.
<br />Ms. Fischer states that she is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, she will serve
<br />the remainder of a term end on December 31, 2015. Hawai'i County Charter Section 13-4(c),
<br />states that "members of any board or commission appointed for a term of two years or less shall
<br />be eligible to succeed themselves for an additional full term." If Ms. Fischer is confirmed today,
<br />she will be eligible to be reappointed to serve a full term to end on December 31, 2020.
