Campus Procedures <br /> 1. Students must submit training documents to HawCC's Fire Science Program Coordinator. <br /> 2. The Fire Science Program Coordinator will determinte document authenticity. <br /> 3. After authenticity is determined the Fire Science Program Coordinator will make copies <br /> of training documents and submit copies of training documents and a Prior Learning <br /> Assesment Credit Award Form to the Admissions &Records Office (ARO). <br /> 4. The ARO will process the Prior Learning Assesment Credit Award Form under the ARO's <br /> current procedure for transfer credit evaluations of student college transcripts, foreign <br /> institution transcripts, military transcripts,Advanced Placement and College Level <br /> Examination Program (CLEP) transcripts accroding to HawCC Policy HAW 7.209 - <br /> Transferring Credits from External Instituions. <br /> 5. The ARO will award credit using Instution Code: N039 - Hawai'i County Fire Department. <br /> 6. The ARO will notify students when the credit award is complete by posting a message to <br /> students' STAR Academic Essentials Report in the Advisor Note section. <br /> 7. The ARO will maintain all documents pertainig to students per the ARO's records <br /> management policies and procedures. <br /> e. Course Descriptions <br /> (For most current course descriptions,see the most current College Catalog) <br /> Fire 101-Essentials of Fire Suppression(3) <br /> PreReq:Eng 21 or ESL 21 or placement in Eng 102 <br /> CoReq:Fire 101L,Fire 151,and Fire 156 <br /> Provides students with a comprehensive initial introduction to suppression of structural fires.Introduces <br /> definitions,terminology,and a brief history of structural fire suppression.Provides students with a basic <br /> knowledge of fire behavior,how and what materials burn,extinguishment systems,and basic methods of <br /> suppression.
