<br />Hawai‘i County Council-20 August 19, 2015 <br /> <br />Res. 250-15: PROPOSES AN AMENDMENT TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I GENERAL <br />PLAN, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE GENERAL PLAN COMPREHENSIVE <br />REVIEW PROCESS, RELATING TO: 1) MASS TRANSIT; 2) OPEN SPACES; <br />3) SENSITIVE NATURAL AND CULTURAL RESOURCES; AND <br />4) HISTORIC TRAILS <br />Proposes the following amendments to the General Plan: 1) Mass Transit – <br />Include island-wide review of existing transit system, consider Mass Transit <br />Master Plan if completed in time, and depict route systems on both island-wide <br />and smaller area maps, by geographic location; 2) Open Spaces – Compilation of <br />island-wide inventory and include current and projected open space on both an <br />island-wide and smaller area maps by geographical location; 3) Sensitive Natural <br />and Cultural Resources – Protection of public trust resources must be considered <br />in all County land use policies and decisions; and 4) Historic Trails – Development <br />of a formal public access program with consideration for existing trails and <br />potential trails, connections, and extensions to be coordinated with appropriate <br />State and Federal agencies. <br /> <br /> Reference: Comm. 418 <br /> Intr. by: Ms. Eoff <br />Waived: PC <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Res. 251-15: PROPOSES AN AMENDMENT TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I GENERAL <br />PLAN, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE GENERAL PLAN COMPREHENSIVE <br />REVIEW PROCESS, RELATING TO ROADWAYS IN SOUTH HILO <br />Proposes the following amendments to the General Plan: 1) Remove <br />section 14.3.5.2.2, relating to South Hilo, that recommends focusing commercial <br />development in the Waiākea Houselots area along Kekūanāoʻa, Piʻilani, Manono, <br />and Lanikāula Streets; and 2) Remove ten future collector roads shown on the <br />South Hilo District Transportation-Roadways map, currently included as Figure 48. <br /> <br /> Reference: Comm. 420 <br /> Intr. by: Mr. Onishi <br />Waived: PC <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Page 6 <br /> <br />
