REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS AND <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION <br /> DATE: February 2, 2016 Re: Comm.No. 639/Res.No. 376-16 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 10:42 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation,to which was referred <br /> Resolution No. 376-16, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 376-16,transmitted by Deputy Corporation Counsel Ronald Kim, via <br /> Communication No. 639 dated January 13, 2016, authorizes the acquisition of private property by <br /> eminent domain of Tax Map Key: 2-4-019:127 (portion), situated at Waiakea, District of South Hilo, <br /> County and State of Hawai`i, for the Kawailani Street Improvements Project (`Iwalani Street to <br /> Pohakulani Street). <br /> The resolution authorizes the acquisition of a portion of the property described in Exhibit"1"and <br /> delineated in Exhibit"2",to realign Ainaola Drive,widen Kawailani Street and some of the feeder <br /> streets, and install traffic signals at the intersections of Kawailani and `Iwalani Streets, and Kawailani <br /> Street and Ainaola Drive. <br /> Deputy Corporation Counsel Ronald Kim explained that the delayed of moving construction forward <br /> was not due to the opposition of the owners, but the inability to reach a lending company.
