N�-4OF N <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII -_ STATE OF HAWAII <br />O/•NI.'� <br />BILL NO. 152 <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE IV, SECTION 4-4 OF THE HAWAII <br />COUNTY CHARTER (2014), RELATING TO ADVISORY COMMISSIONS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: <br />SECTION 1. Article IV, section 4-4 of the Hawaii County Charter (2014), <br />relating to Advisory Commissions, is amended to read as follows: <br />"Section 4-4. Advisory Commissions. <br />The mayor may appoint advisory commissions[.] subject to confirmation by the <br />council. Members of such advisory commissions shall serve for a period of time not to <br />exceed, or exist beyond, the term of office of the mayor, except as otherwise provided by <br />this charter. The members of advisory commissions shall not receive compensation; <br />however their authorized expenses shall be paid from funds of the agency affected by the <br />commission. Advisory commissions shall have no employees, but the mayor shall cause <br />the employees of the agency concerned to furnish such services as may be needed by the <br />commissions." <br />SECTION 2. New charter material is underscored. Material to be repealed is <br />bracketed and stricken. When revising, compiling, or printing these charter provisions <br />for inclusion in the Charter of the County of Hawaii, the reviser need not include the <br />underscoring. <br />SECTION 3. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any <br />person or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or <br />applications of the ordinance, which can be given effect without the invalid provision or <br />application, and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are severable. <br />SECTION 4. Upon adoption of this ordinance, this council, by appropriate <br />resolution, shall provide that this amendment be submitted to the electorate of Hawaii <br />County for approval in the 2016 general election. <br />
