.1 - .. r, <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII -,•: ='% �•' STATE OF HAWAII <br /> + � <br /> oF............... <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 408 16 <br /> A RESOLUTION URGING THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND THE <br /> DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION TO PROVIDE MATCHING FUNDS <br /> FOR THE PLANNING, DESIGN,AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE HONOKA`A <br /> TRACK AND FIELD AND STADIUM. <br /> WHEREAS, Honoka`a Park is administered by the Hawai`i County Department of Parks <br /> and Recreation through executive order from the State of Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, Honoka`a Park has a County-developed and County-maintained sand track <br /> and field that is need of improvements; and <br /> WHEREAS, the community, the Department of Parks and Recreation, and the State of <br /> Hawai`i Department of Education have committed to a collaborative effort to upgrade the <br /> existing track and field and provide stadium facilities for improved safety and to accommodate <br /> the needs of the public and Honoka`a area schools; and <br /> WHEREAS, the construction of a new stadium and track and field at Honoka`a Park will <br /> be shared by the community, the Department of Parks and Recreation, and the State of Hawai`i <br /> Department of Education; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it <br /> hereby urges the State Department of Education and the Department of Parks and Recreation to <br /> work together to provide matching funds for the planning, design, and construction of a new <br /> stadium and track and field improvements in Honoka`a Park. <br />
