COUNTY OF HAWAII -•. � •` STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 441 16 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NORTH HAWAII HOSPICE FOR ITS VOLUNTEER TRAINING PROGRAM. WHEREAS,North Hawai`i Hospice is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to support people's wishes to approach the end of life with a greater sense of empowerment, comfort, and peace; and WHEREAS, hospice care involves easing the physical,psychological, emotional, and spiritual pain and suffering experienced by patients and the loved ones who care for them; and WHEREAS, volunteers, the unsung heroes of hospice services, give their time and heart to bring comfort, support, and relief to the patients and their familes, and they enable caregivers to take a much-needed break from the exhaustive responsibility of providing 24-hour care for a loved one; and WHEREAS, North Hawai`i Hospice has identified a financial need to sustain its volunteer program, which is comprised of more than 80 volunteers, because Medicare requires hospice organizations to have a volunteer program in order to be compliant; and WHEREAS, North Hawai`i Hospice is requesting funds for its Volunteer Training Program for online curriculum and workbooks, a volunteer seminar, and hands-on training on bedside care for all patient-care volunteers; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging to provide a grant to North Hawai`i Hospice for its Volunteer Training Program; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:
