�J(V OF Ii• i'•. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII -•. � •` STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 441 16 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NORTH HAWAII <br /> HOSPICE FOR ITS VOLUNTEER TRAINING PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS,North Hawai`i Hospice is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission <br /> is to support people's wishes to approach the end of life with a greater sense of empowerment, <br /> comfort, and peace; and <br /> WHEREAS, hospice care involves easing the physical,psychological, emotional, and <br /> spiritual pain and suffering experienced by patients and the loved ones who care for them; and <br /> WHEREAS, volunteers, the unsung heroes of hospice services, give their time and heart <br /> to bring comfort, support, and relief to the patients and their familes, and they enable caregivers <br /> to take a much-needed break from the exhaustive responsibility of providing 24-hour care for a <br /> loved one; and <br /> WHEREAS, North Hawai`i Hospice has identified a financial need to sustain its <br /> volunteer program, which is comprised of more than 80 volunteers, because Medicare requires <br /> hospice organizations to have a volunteer program in order to be compliant; and <br /> WHEREAS, North Hawai`i Hospice is requesting funds for its Volunteer Training <br /> Program for online curriculum and workbooks, a volunteer seminar, and hands-on training on <br /> bedside care for all patient-care volunteers; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to <br /> the Office of Aging to provide a grant to North Hawai`i Hospice for its Volunteer Training <br /> Program; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />
