JMtY^Of N.....1 <br /> • <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> oF <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 459 i6 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS <br /> HAWAII INC. FOR THE ANNUAL BIG ISLAND AREA GAMES. <br /> WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br /> dedicated to helping children and adults with intellectual disabilities improve their quality of life <br /> through sports; and <br /> WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. helps athletes to develop physical fitness, <br /> demonstrate courage and skill, experience joy, build friendships, and participate in the sharing of <br /> gifts with fellow athletes, families, and the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, Special Olympics West Hawai`i hosts the annual Big Island Area Games <br /> and is seeking funds to help offset the cost for food, equipment, and uniforms for approximately <br /> 70 volunteers and 150 participants; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to <br /> the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. to <br /> support the annual Big Island Area Games hosted by Special Olympics West Hawai`i; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />
