JOSEPH SCHOOL <br /> FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO ST. JOSEPH HIGH SCHOOL INTERACT CLUB'S <br /> INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS, St. Joseph School is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that assists St. <br /> Joseph High School with programs and activities that benefit the students that attend the school, <br /> including student exchange programs and other service projects; and <br /> WHEREAS, these St. Joseph High School programs and activities, such as the <br /> International Student Exchange Program, encourage healthy social and educational interaction <br /> between students, faculty, friends, staff and other community members in a safe environment <br /> that is smoke-free, drug-free and alcohol-free; and <br /> WHEREAS, St. Joseph High School's Interact Club is a service club for students ages <br /> 12 to 18, which international understanding and goodwill and strives to give back to the <br /> community through service projects; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support programs that <br /> promote smoke-free, drug-free, and alcohol-free activities and programs conducted in a healthy <br /> and safe environment to benefit those who reside in our County; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the <br /> Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to St. Joseph School to assist with expenses <br /> related to the St. Joseph High School Interact Club's international student exchange program; <br /> now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />
