�J0SY OF h.;. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII '.i.i\.' -'- • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> a•rt OF.M'.�1 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 479 16 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PURCHASE TWO SMART SIGNS FOR <br /> `AINALOA BOULEVARD. <br /> WHEREAS, in a recent traffic study completed by the Department of Public Works, <br /> results identified that 50.8% of the surveyed vehicles travelling in a northeast direction and <br /> 89.83% of the surveyed vehicles travelling in a southwest direction travel over the posted speed <br /> limit of 25 miles per hour; and <br /> WHEREAS, Smart Signs encourage drivers to drive the speed limit by alerting them in <br /> real-time of their actual speed, which reduces driving speeds and helps to protect the lives of <br /> motorists and pedestrians; and <br /> WHEREAS, Smart Signs are needed to control speeding on `Ainaloa Boulevard, near <br /> Macadamia Drive and the `Ainaloa Longhouse, which is in the area of the post office mailboxes, <br /> a recreational community center, a baseball field park, a designated bus stop, and the `Ainaloa <br /> volunteer fire station; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to <br /> the Department of Public Works—Traffic Division to purchase two Smart Signs to be installed <br /> on `Ainaloa Boulevard near Macadamia Drive and the Ainaloa Longhouse; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br /> FUND: General <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> APPROPRIATION: $20,000 <br /> OUT AND FROM: <br /> 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC —Contingency Relief $20,000 <br /> CREDITED TO: <br /> 010.801.5801.38 Department of Public Works $20,000 <br /> Transfer to Highway Fund <br /> 341 Misc. Charges <br /> (Traffic Signals & St Lights, Highway Materials <br /> — Smart Signs <br />
