COUNTY OF HAWAII '.i.i\.' -'- • STATE OF HAWAII a•rt OF.M'.�1 RESOLUTION NO. 479 16 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PURCHASE TWO SMART SIGNS FOR `AINALOA BOULEVARD. WHEREAS, in a recent traffic study completed by the Department of Public Works, results identified that 50.8% of the surveyed vehicles travelling in a northeast direction and 89.83% of the surveyed vehicles travelling in a southwest direction travel over the posted speed limit of 25 miles per hour; and WHEREAS, Smart Signs encourage drivers to drive the speed limit by alerting them in real-time of their actual speed, which reduces driving speeds and helps to protect the lives of motorists and pedestrians; and WHEREAS, Smart Signs are needed to control speeding on `Ainaloa Boulevard, near Macadamia Drive and the `Ainaloa Longhouse, which is in the area of the post office mailboxes, a recreational community center, a baseball field park, a designated bus stop, and the `Ainaloa volunteer fire station; and WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of Public Works—Traffic Division to purchase two Smart Signs to be installed on `Ainaloa Boulevard near Macadamia Drive and the Ainaloa Longhouse; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $20,000 OUT AND FROM: 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC —Contingency Relief $20,000 CREDITED TO: 010.801.5801.38 Department of Public Works $20,000 Transfer to Highway Fund 341 Misc.
