STATE OF HAWAII '.....;:;?7,.....:14r�.os'Mp4_ RESOLUTION NO. 477 16 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PACIFIC TSUNAMI MUSEUM FOR THE PURCHASE OF PORTABLE EXHIBIT DISPLAYS. WHEREAS, the Pacific Tsunami Museum (PTM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, whose goals are to promote public tsunami education for the people of Hawaii and visitors worldwide, preserve the social and cultural history of Hawai`i, and serve as a living memorial to those who lost their lives in past tsunami events; and WHEREAS, in accordance with its mission, PTM promotes outreach within the local community by hosting exhibit opening functions to inform the public of new displays; and WHEREAS, PTM is seeking funds to assist with expenses related to purchasing portable exhibit displays to conduct tsunami education and outreach throughout Hawaii Island; and WHEREAS, the exhibits would be used at disaster preparedness fairs, tsunami awareness events, ocean safety events, and schools; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Civil Defense Agency to provide a grant to PTM for the purchase of portable exhibit displays for its community outreach initiative; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:
