COUNTY OF HAWAII �•i.4\`';' '!'• STATE OF HAWAII <br /> HT1 Of N►,�_. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 478 16 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO CHILD AND FAMILY <br /> SERVICE TO ASSIST KA MAULOA 0 KA MALAMALAMA WITH THE PURCHASE <br /> OF EMERGENCY HYGIENE ITEMS. <br /> WHEREAS, Child and Family Service (CFS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is <br /> dedicated to valuing integrity, quality client service, employee excellence, teamwork, <br /> communication, to help strengthening families, and fostering healthy development of children; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, in 1918, Ho`omana Na'auao 0 Hawai`i, the first independent Hawaiian <br /> Christian organization in the state, established a church in Kurtistown, named Ka Mauloa 0 Ka <br /> Malamalama; and <br /> WHEREAS, in the past eight years, members of Ka Mauloa 0 Ka Malamalama have <br /> been working in the Hilo and Puna areas to improve the condition of families less fortunate, <br /> which in recent efforts have branched out to assist other churches and organizations with similar <br /> endeavors, such as CFS; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ka Mauloa 0 Ka Malamalama is seeking funds to allow it continue to <br /> provide emergency basic hygiene items to underserved members of our community, including <br /> towels, blankets, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bar soap,toothbrush,toothpaste, razors, <br /> shaving cream, and deodorant; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to <br /> the Civil Defense Agency to provide a grant to CFS to assist Ka Mauloa 0 Ka Malamalama with <br /> the purchase of emergency hygiene items to struggling families in the Puna communities; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />
