No. 795 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 2:40 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 795,reports as follows: <br /> Communication 795,transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated March 7, 2016,requests favorable <br /> recommendation of the nomination of Ms. Emma Y. Sousa to the Hawai`i County Pension Board. <br /> Ms. Sousa currently serves as Chair of the Board of the Hawai`i County Employees Federal Credit Union, <br /> Secretary of the Kilauea Tenrikyo Church and Treasurer of the Hilo High School Class of 1966. <br /> Managing Director Bobby Command, came forward to introduce Nominee Sousa and requested Council's <br /> favorable action of this appointment. If confirmed, Ms. Sousa will be eligible for reappointment to serve <br /> a full term that will end on December 31, 2019, and that she is not affiliated with any political party. <br /> Nominee Sousa came forward and explained that she was previously employed by the Department of <br /> Finance and commented that this appointment would be her way of giving back to the community. <br /> Several Council Members commented in favor of Ms. Sousa's appointment. <br /> Chair Eoff informed Ms. Sousa that she did not need to appear before the full Council for confirmation <br /> and thanked her for her willingness to serve. <br /> Pursuant to Section 6-6.4 of the Hawai`i County Charter there shall be a Pension Board consisting of five <br /> members who shall appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the Council. <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 795, and <br /> recommends confirmation of the appointment of Ms. Emma Y.
