No. 876/Bill No. 206 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 12:21 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning,to which was referred Bill No. 206, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 206, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi via Communication No. 876 dated April <br /> 19, 2016, amends Section 25-8-26 (Pahoa Zone Map), Article 8, Chapter 25 of the Hawai`i County <br /> Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), by changing the district classification from Single—Family <br /> Residential— 10,000 Square Feet (RS-10)to Village Commercial— 10,000 square feet (CV-10) at <br /> Nanawale Homesteads, Pahoa, Puna, Hawai`i, covered by Tax Map Key: 1-5-011:008 and 1-5-011:009. <br /> The subject parcel covers approximately 17,994 square feet of land. <br /> The applicants, David and Charlene Ewing, plan to relocate the interne coffee shop they currently own <br /> and operate in downtown Pahoa. They plan to lease about 900 square feet of the proposed building for <br /> retail businesses. The remaining 1,500 square feet will be used for the coffee shop, which will have a <br /> restroom and an approximately 600 square foot covered outdoor seating area. <br /> The Windward Planning Commission, at its duly held public hearing on April 7, 2016, recommended <br /> approval of this item. <br /> Mr. Ewing,the applicant, was present.
