No. 886 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 11:47 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 886, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 886, submitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi dated May 10, 2016, nominates Eddie <br /> K. Akau to the South Kohala Community Development Plan Action Committee. If confirmed, he would <br /> serve a four-year term. <br /> Mr. Akau was introduced by Charmaine Shigemura, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kenoi. Speaking by <br /> videoconference from Kona, he said his family has lived in Kawaihae for hundreds of years, and that he <br /> hoped to bring to the committee his knowledge of the area and the history of the place. <br /> Ms. Wille said she was grateful to Mr. Akau for stepping up to serve. She noted that the Action <br /> Committee had a full slate of members for the first time in years. <br /> Mr. Akau was informed that he is not required to be present for Council confirmation. <br /> Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 886, and <br /> recommends confirmation of the appointment of Eddie K.
