Coumy councu f c
My name is Adrian Barber. I reside in Leilani Estates and work in
Lani Puna Gardens close to Puna Geothermal Venture. I have the
honor to serve the community effected by toxic Hydrogen Sulphide
emmisions in Puna as President of Pune Malama Pono, a non-profit

autonomous group. We are proponents of the healthy environment
guaranteed citizens of Hawaii by the Constitution of Hawaii. We
oppose being poisoned in our homes by the recent intrusion into
our residential neighborhoods by industrial plants that can not or
will not contain the toxic by products of their opperation.
With regard to Communication 59: (Bill 14) I urge you to vote
"No".
This is a simple issue. If geothermal developement posses no
threat to the health and safety of the neighboring communites then
there is no need for a Geothermal Royalty Fund to buy out people
who are not effected by a plant that posses no threat and the
County does not need to get into the realty business with money
urgently needed for other pressing needs in the community. If
there is a threat to the community and lives and health are at
risk, as a recent study by the University of Texas Toxicology
Department seems to strongly indicate, then the proper course of

action would be to enforce the County permits under which such
industrial plants opperate. In this case that it is GRP-1 and I
quote Condition One. The proposed geothermal developement

activities would not have unreasonable adverse health,
environmental, or socio-economic effects on the residents or
surrounding property."I hope you take my point. w
We shall be, you can be sure, watching very closely the
development of this administrations attempt to, in our opion, pull
the wool over the voters eyes with politicaly motivated actions in
gross disregard for the spirit, and we believe, the letter of th
Corns.
