22. Wastewater: The applicants will continue to use the existing State Department of Health <br /> (DOH) individual wastewater systems that were installed with construction of the <br /> existing residences. No additional residences will be constructed beyond the existing <br /> residences,therefore no additional sewage disposal systems would be required following <br /> the rezoning and subdivision of the property. <br /> 23. Solid Waste: Solid waste will be taken to the Kealakehe transfer station by the individual <br /> lot owners or a private hauling service. <br /> 24. Essential Utilities and Services: The area is served by police and fire stations in Kailua <br /> and Kealakehe, approximately five miles southwest of the property. The new Makalei <br /> fire station was built in the Kalaoa area off Mamalahoa Highway, about 3.5 miles from <br /> the property. Kealakehe Elementary, Intermediate and High Schools are located <br /> approximately 4 miles south of the property.
