REQUEST: <br /> Please prepare a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement and to accept a grant from the <br /> U.S. Department of Homeland Security— Federal Emergency Management Agency and also appropriate <br /> the funds as follows: <br /> Assistance to Firefighters Grant- Misc Equipment $1,369,493.00 <br /> Assistance to Firefighters Grant - Federal Grant Revenues $1,369,493.00 <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The Hawai'i County Fire Department applied for and was notified of the approval of the grant application for <br /> the Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of$1,369,943.00. The grant plus a 10% match by the <br /> County in the amount of$136,949.00, the Department will able to purchase new self-contained breathing <br /> apparatus (SCBA) to replace all of the department's SCBA units which are nearing the end of their useful <br /> life.
