COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />1G 1.6 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIAKEA HIGH <br />SCHOOL PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ASSOCIATION FOR THE 2017 WAIAKEA <br />HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT GRAD NIGHT. <br />WHEREAS, the Waiakea High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is a <br />501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that assists Waiakea High School with programs and activities <br />that benefit its students, including the Waiakea High School Project Grad Night program; and <br />WHEREAS, the Waiakea High School Project Grad Night provides a safe, secure, and <br />supervised celebration as an alternative to the traditional graduation parties that involve underage <br />drinking, illegal substance use, and unsupervised late-night partying that normally results in <br />drinking and driving, all of which pose a hazard to the community; and <br />WHEREAS, this alcohol- and drug-free event provides the parents and families of the <br />graduates with peace of mind knowing that their child is in a safe and wholesome environment <br />after graduation; and <br />WHEREAS, the Waiakea High School PTSA is requesting funds for the purchase of <br />food, supplies, and other miscellaneous costs related to the 2017 Waiakea High School Project <br />Grad Night; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support youth <br />programs that promote alcohol- and drug-free events, including the Waiakea High School Project <br />Grad Night program; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and <br />WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the <br />Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Waiakea High School PTSA for the 2017 <br />Waiakea High School Project Grad Night; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br />following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />
