COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 41 17 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAMAKUA <br />YOUTH FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH THE PURCHASE OF JUDO MATS TO BE <br />USED BY THE SEI GI KAN HONOKA`A JUDO CLUB. <br />WHEREAS, Hamakua Youth Foundation Inc. (HYF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, <br />community-based organization dedicated to creating a nurturing, youth -service program for <br />youth starting from age ten that teaches environmental sustainability and stewardship, Hawaiian <br />culture and arts, and youth leadership, as well as connecting youth and their families with social <br />service agencies; and <br />WHEREAS, HYF and its community is partnering with Sei Gi Kan Honoka`a Judo Club <br />by working collaboratively to promote extracurricular sports activities for the youth in Hamakua; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Judo club will be working with the HYF to provide Judo lessons for the <br />children who attend their youth program; and <br />WHEREAS, HYF is requesting funds to purchase used Judo mats for Sei Gi Kan <br />Honoka`a Judo Club, to be used at Honoka`a Hongwanji Judo Hall; and <br />WHEREAS, the judo mats are only slightly used, and are otherwise of good quality; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support programs that <br />promote smoke, alcohol and drug-free activities for our communities, such as the HYF's youth <br />program and the Sei Gi Kan Honoka`a Judo Club; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hamakua Youth Foundation Inc. to assist with the purchase <br />of used Judo mats. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
