• Na Mama 0 Kawa has successfully stewarded the access points, <br /> freshwater springs,recreational sites, cultural sites and trash/waste <br /> facilities since Fall 2012 <br /> • Na Mamo 0 Kawa members and collaborators include experts in Aiimmum <br /> Hawaiian culture,natural resource management, and ecology with <br /> extensive land stewardship experience and a lifelong commitment to aloha <br /> `aina <br /> • Na Mamo 0 Kawa has successfully implemented a significant number of <br /> community and student on-site workdays with groups including: <br /> Kamehameha Schools (Kapalama and Kea'au Campuses),Hawaii Youth <br /> Conservation Corps,University of Hawaii SEEM internship program, <br /> Ka'u High School Students,Ka`u residents, and others <br /> • Regardless of long-standing disagreements among stakeholders, <br /> government agencies and lineal descendants of the project area,Na Mamo <br /> 0 Kawa has successfully communicated with all relevant parties in a <br /> positive and collaborative manner in order to rise above such disputes to <br /> ensure the focus remains on stewardship rather than conflict. <br /> • Na Mamo 0 Kawa members and affiliates have relevant academic and <br /> cultural backgrounds including an abundance of knowledge in the areas of <br /> history, land stewardship,traditional practices,archaeology and local <br /> culture such as mele, oli, 'olelo no'eau,pule, and much more. <br /> • Na Mamo 0 Kawa continues to include all interested learners of all ages <br /> in many facets of our work to malama Kawa. This includes working with <br /> planners and others in the creation of baseline mapping,management <br /> plans,creating and fostering sustainable community partnerships. <br />
