REQUEST: <br /> To enter into a multi-year agreement for five (5) years for Glock firearms and associated equipment to be <br /> used in various locations throught the island. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The Police Department would like to obtain a 5 year lease for new Glock firearms and associated equipment <br /> (holster, magazine pouch, light) to be issued to officers throughout the County. Leasing of these new <br /> firearms and associated equipment will give the officers a more reliable, lighter and better equipped officer <br /> safety tool. The Glock has been approved as a replacement firearm to the Smith &Wesson 5906 and Smith <br /> and Wesson CS9 which are no longer produced and are obsolete for our purposes. Additionally, parts and <br /> associated equipment for the Smith and Wessons have become increasingly hard to locate, in quantity, and <br /> consequently have risen in price.
