GS 1 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIAKEA HIGH <br /> SCHOOL PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ASSOCIATION TO PURCHASE AND <br /> INSTALL CEILING FANS IN THE WAIAKEA HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASIUM. <br /> WHEREAS, the Waiakea High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is a <br /> 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that assists Waiakea High School with programs and activities <br /> that benefit its students, including athletics, student government activities, and classroom <br /> activities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Waiakea High School gymnasium is a multi-purpose facility, utilized <br /> for student athletics, classroom activities, student government activities and events, and an <br /> emergency evacuation shelter for members of the public; and <br /> WHEREAS, the weather in Hilo creates a range of unhealthy conditions in the <br /> gymnasium: humidity causes the floor to become slippery and unsafe, hot weather creates <br /> stifling conditions in the gymnasium for participants and spectators, and poor air circulation is <br /> exacerbated when many people are seeking refuge during emergency evacuation situations; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Waiakea High School PTSA is requesting funds for the purchase and <br /> installation of ceiling fans to improve air quality and circulation; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs and activities, such as <br /> those held at the Waiakea High School gymnasium, that are beneficial to the public and <br /> conducted in a safe and healthy environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Waiakea High School PTSA to assist with the purchase <br /> and installation of ceiling fans in the Waiakea High School gymnasium. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
