REQUEST: <br /> Requesting a bill for an ordinance to appropriate $225,000 in revenue and expenditure account in the Park <br /> Maintenance budget account 010.500.5505.78 entitled "LFA Control-Dept of Ag". <br /> Requesting a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the State <br /> Department of Agriculture to establish a Little Fire Ant Control program to fight the invasive species at <br /> Department of Parks and Recreation facilities. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> In cooperation with the State of Hawaii Department of Agriculture the County of Hawaii Department of Parks <br /> and Recreation would like to establish a Little Fire Ant (LFA) control program for the departments facilities. <br /> The State shall provide $225,000 in funding for the department to hire up to 3 staff and provide them the <br /> equipment as well as the necessary bait. The staff will be tasked to identify infected areas and bait on a 6 <br /> week cycle to reduce and control LFA populations in our parks. <br /> The department requests that this bill be waived from Finance Committee and proceed directly for Council's <br /> review to help expedite the project. <br /> SIGNED: t e 1 DATE: C� <br /> epartment Head <br />
