., <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAIIi�?f;,.et:.ii STATE OF HAWAI I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> 138 11 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND <br /> RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL TO ASSIST THE <br /> KONA SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT WITH EXPENSES FOR <br /> EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AND WORKSHOPS. <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council <br /> (BIRCDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose purpose is to assist the people of the Big <br /> Island with becoming sustainable while caring for and appreciating the natural environment, as <br /> well as enriching our communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, BIRCDC is partnering with the Kona Soil and Water Conservation District <br /> (Kona SWCD), in developing a community-based project that includes a series of workshops <br /> targeting farmers, schools, and realtors to increase public awareness of major environmental <br /> issues facing the communities of West Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, BIRCDC is requesting funds for educational materials to assist Kona <br /> SWCD with outreach efforts in conducting workshops relating to soil conservation, erosion <br /> mitigation and awareness, and environmental issues impacting West Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139 (a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution, identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials,or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to the Big Island Resource Conservation <br /> Development Council to assist the Kona Soil and Water Conservation District with expenses <br /> related to outreach, educational materials, and conducting workshops to increase community <br /> awareness on environmental issues impacting West Hawaii. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
