COUNTY OF HAWAII '/ STATE OF HAWAI I <br /> nw <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 154 1-1 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO BIG ISLAND <br /> RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL TO ASSIST THE <br /> KONA SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT WITH COSTS FOR <br /> EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL AND WORKSHOPS. <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council <br /> (BIRCDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports conservation,agricultural research, <br /> and economic development on Hawai`i Island; and <br /> WIIEREAS, the Kona Soil and Water Conservation District (KSWCD) is a <br /> governmental subdivision of the State of Hawaii organized under Chapter Igo of the Hawaii <br /> Revised Statutes, that utilizes technical, financial. and educational resources to meet the needs of <br /> land users with regard to the conservation of soil, water, and natural resources in North and <br /> South Kona; and <br /> WHEREAS, BIRCDC was created to establish partnerships between County. Federal, <br /> and State government entities that are led by local community leaders such as KSWCD, and the <br /> community; and <br /> WHEREAS, BIRCDC is seeking funds to assist KSWCD with the costs for developing <br /> educational material for distribution during workshops and site visits that specifically address <br /> land degradation and soil depletion in the Kona District; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service,equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to Big Island Resource Conservation Development <br /> Council to assist the Kona Soil and Water Conservation District with costs for educational <br /> material and to conduct workshops to specifically address land degradation and soil depletion. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
