COUNTY OF HAWAII '• ? =`%i •': STATE OF HAWAII <br /> • <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 157 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S BIKE <br /> PATROL PROGRAM IN SOUTH HILO. <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii Police Department's Community Police Officers are <br /> responsible for developing partnerships within the community in an effort to create a safe and <br /> secure environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Bike Patrol program improves the visibility of Community Police <br /> Officers in their community,allows greater interaction with Hawaii Island residents and visitors, <br /> and supports effective and responsive law enforcement in areas such as street crimes, public <br /> nuisances, recurring problems, and property crimes; and <br /> WHEREAS, the bicycles used for the Bike Patrol program in South Hilo are weathered, <br /> aged, and unsafe for officers to ride, and the Police Department lacks maintenance funds for <br /> tune-ups, brake and chain replacements, tires, gears, and other essentials; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Police Department has requested funds for the Bike Patrol program in <br /> South Hilo for the purchase of new bicycles and maintenance costs; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAPI that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will he appropriated to the Police Department <br /> for the Bike Patrol program in South Hilo. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
