IGS 1°? <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO '0 KA`U KAKOU FOR <br /> THE DESIGN AND INSTALLATION OF AN INFORMATIONAL KIOSK AT MANUKA <br /> STATE WAYSIDE PARK. <br /> WHEREAS,the Ka`u Scenic Byway Committee coordinates efforts that enhance the <br /> experience of visitors to Hawai`i Island by promoting Ka`u, its cultural landscapes,historic <br /> significance, and natural beauty; and <br /> 'WHEREAS, one of its initiatives is to design and place informational kiosks and signage <br /> in key areas within the Ka`u district that are intended to educate visitors as well as the people of <br /> Hawai`i Island about the rich history of Ka`u, its culture, its historic places, and diverse <br /> communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, '0 Ka`u Kakou is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that sponsors and <br /> supports community activities in the district of Ka`u that enhance the quality of life for keiki, <br /> kupuna, businesses, and the greater Ka`u community; and <br /> WHEREAS, '0 Ka`u Kakou is working in partnership with the Ka`u Scenic Byway <br /> Committee to design a three-panel kiosk to be installed at Manuka State Wayside Park; and <br /> WHEREAS,this informational kiosk will provide information that highlights the nature <br /> trails, anchialine ponds,the ahuapua'a system, and Ka`u history; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of State parks, has <br /> agreed to allow the installation of the informational kiosk at Manuka State Wayside Park; and <br /> WHEREAS, '0 Ka`u Kakou is requesting funds to assist with expenses relating to the <br /> design and installation of the informational kiosk at Manuka State Wayside Park; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to '0 Ka`u Kakou to assist the Ka`u Scenic Byway <br /> Committee with expenses associated with the creation and installation of an informational kiosk <br /> at Manuka State Wayside Park. <br />
