4oJ�tv,os.. t. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII �'- ='/�*N� STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 7 <br /> 1 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FOOD BASKET, <br /> INC.,TO SUPPORT THE BODACIOUS LADIES FEEDING PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS, the Bodacious Ladies of Puna is a group of committed volunteers serving <br /> under the auspices of the Youth Business Center and the Community Grassroots Project,that <br /> was formed to help communities in Puna become food sustainable, and was a significant <br /> community contributor after Tropical Storm Iselle made landfall and the need for services in the <br /> Puna community increased substantially; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Bodacious Ladies of Puna continues to operate a food pantry and food <br /> distribution program currently servicing over 600 families in Puna through its Bodacious Ladies <br /> Feeding Program; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization whose mission <br /> is to eradicate the root of hunger; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., is working with the Bodacious Ladies Feeding <br /> Program to help it reach its objective of creating food sustainable communities in the Puna area; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, The Food Basket,Inc., is requesting funds to assist with the purchase of <br /> non-perishable food items to support the Bodacious Ladies Feeding Programs; and <br /> WHEREAS thisJro•ect as identified fits within the Department of Research and <br /> p <br /> Development's Community Building,that focuses on collaborating with Community-based <br /> organizations to balance economic, social and community,health, and environmental priorities; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to The Food Basket, Inc.,to support the Bodacious <br /> Ladies Feeding Program. <br />
