COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> •AT174 17 <br /> E <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF BIG <br /> ISLAND DRUG COURT,INC.,TO PAY FOR SERVICES FOR PARTICIPANTS OF <br /> THE BIG ISLAND DRUG COURT AND BIG ISLAND VETERANS TREATMENT <br /> COURT. <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Drug Court started on Hawai`i Island in 2002 and is a <br /> specialized treatment program that provides intense supervision of participants dealing with <br /> substance abuse in collaboration with the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, Office of the <br /> Public Defender, Hawai`i Police Department,Adult Probation Division of the Third Circuit <br /> Court, and the State Department of Public Safety; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Big Island Veterans Treatment Court, launched on November 10, 2014, <br /> is a specialized treatment program for veterans that provides intense supervision of participants <br /> dealing with mental illness and substance abuse in collaboration with the U.S. Department of <br /> Veterans Affairs, Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, Office of the Public Defender, Hawai`i <br /> Police Department,Adult Probation Division of the Third Circuit Court, and the State <br /> Department of Public Safety; and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of Big Island Drug Court, Inc., is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit <br /> organization whose purpose is to secure funds for drug courts in Hawai`i County, which includes <br /> the planning and implementation of court-related services; and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of Big Island Drug Court, Inc., is requesting funds to pay for <br /> services for participants of the Big Island Drug Court and Big Island Veterans Treatment Court <br /> programs; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Friends of Big Island Drug Court, Inc., for court- <br /> related services for participants of the Big Island Drug Court and Big Island Veterans Treatment <br /> Court programs. <br />
