..-;;;077°-7 <br /> ,OJNtV OF I�+`' <br /> nn <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII �•_. ��' "�'� _#, STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 180 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FOOD BASKET, <br /> INC.,TO HELP DEFRAY EXPENSES RELATED TO IMPLEMENTATION OF ITS <br /> KUPUNA PANTRY PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., serving as Hawai`i Island's Food Bank, ("Food <br /> Basket") is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that is an island-wide nonprofit food network that <br /> collects and distributes nutritious food to low-income families,the ill and disabled, senior <br /> citizens, children's programs, and other charitable nonprofit organizations; and <br /> WHEREAS, Food Basket collaborates with partnering organizations to assist in'the <br /> eradication of the root causes of hunger and educates the community concerning food insecurity <br /> and potential solutions for this significant social problem; and <br /> WHEREAS, Food Basket is preparing to roll out its Kupuna Pantry program this <br /> summer to provide 35 pounds of food per month to each eligible recipient; and <br /> WHEREAS, Food Basket has requested financial assistance to help defray program <br /> start-up expenses, including supplies,printing, advertising, and community outreach; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports programs and <br /> activities that facilitate the sustainability of Hawai`i Island communities through community <br /> based collaboration and capacity building services; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to The Food Basket, Inc.,to help defray start-up <br /> expenses related to the Kupuna Pantry program. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Council hereby transfers/appropriates <br /> the following amount as set forth below: <br />
