..-;;;077°-7 ,OJNtV OF I�+`' nn COUNTY OF HAWAII �•_. ��' "�'� _#, STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 180 17 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FOOD BASKET, INC.,TO HELP DEFRAY EXPENSES RELATED TO IMPLEMENTATION OF ITS KUPUNA PANTRY PROGRAM. WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., serving as Hawai`i Island's Food Bank, ("Food Basket") is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that is an island-wide nonprofit food network that collects and distributes nutritious food to low-income families,the ill and disabled, senior citizens, children's programs, and other charitable nonprofit organizations; and WHEREAS, Food Basket collaborates with partnering organizations to assist in'the eradication of the root causes of hunger and educates the community concerning food insecurity and potential solutions for this significant social problem; and WHEREAS, Food Basket is preparing to roll out its Kupuna Pantry program this summer to provide 35 pounds of food per month to each eligible recipient; and WHEREAS, Food Basket has requested financial assistance to help defray program start-up expenses, including supplies,printing, advertising, and community outreach; and WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports programs and activities that facilitate the sustainability of Hawai`i Island communities through community based collaboration and capacity building services; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to The Food Basket, Inc.,to help defray start-up expenses related to the Kupuna Pantry program. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Council hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
