-MYYIOF N�,' <br /> �xJtC,i <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII - ,�" STATE OF HAWAII <br /> * 4`4OF•N'i� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 195 27 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND <br /> RECREATION TO DEVELOP ACTIVITIES TO FOSTER SISTER-CITY <br /> RELATIONSHIPS FOR THE WAIMEA CHERRY BLOSSOM HERITAGE FESTIVAL. <br /> WHEREAS, hanami (means "flower viewing"), also known as the cherry blossom <br /> festival, is a Japanese tradition over a thousand years old that celebrates the season's first <br /> blooms; and <br /> WHEREAS, the annual Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival is a trademark <br /> festival for the community of Waimea, with multi-cultural performing arts, hands-on bonsai and <br /> origami demonstrations, and various food and craft booths throughout the day; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Culture and Education Division, <br /> continues to host the largely attended, annual Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival and has <br /> the opportunity to strengthen our Sister-City relationships in Japan by collaborating to encourage <br /> a delegation to attend the Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Culture and Education Division, <br /> has requested funding to develop a program with activities that will enhance and strengthen our <br /> Sister-City relationship in Japan; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation, Culture and Education Division, to develop activities to foster Sister-City <br /> relationships for the Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
