COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> E.OF.N'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 216 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MALAMA 0 PUNA TO <br /> ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF UP TO THREE <br /> BUS STOP SHELTERS IN FERN ACRES. <br /> WHEREAS,the Fern Acres Subdivision was created around 1958 and comprised of <br /> nearly 2,000 parcels on almost 4,000 acres of land; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Fern Acres Community Association is mandated to improve the 25 <br /> miles of subdivision roadway while enhancing the quality of life for the families and residents in <br /> the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Fern Acres Community Association estimates that the subdivision has <br /> over 3,000 residents,many of whom need to ride the County and school busses on a weekly <br /> basis; and <br /> WHEREAS, Malama 0 Puna is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to <br /> enhance the environment and standard of living for the residents of Puna, which has agreed to <br /> sponsor the Fern Acres Community Association with its efforts to create up to three new bus stop <br /> shelters; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Office of Housing and Community Development supports organizations <br /> and programs that provide community capacity building, which includes safe transportation for <br /> the residential population of Fern Acres; and <br /> WHEREAS, Malama 0 Puna is requesting funds for construction materials and <br /> contracting landscaping equipment for up to three bus,stop shelters; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Office of Housing <br /> and Community Development to provide a grant to Malama 0 Puna to assist with the <br /> construction of up to three bus stop shelters in the Fern Acres Subdivision. <br />
