• REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON PLANNING DATE: May 16, 2017 Re: Comm. No. 275 PLACE: Council Chambers Hilo, Hawai`i TIME: 9:05 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 275, reports as follows: Communication No. 275, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated April 27, 2017, nominates Mr. Arnold Rabin of Council District 6 to the Hawai`i County Kona Community Development Plan Action Committee. Ms. Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kim, introduced Mr. Rabin who appeared via videoconference from the Kona Council Office. Mr. Rabin has lived in Hawai`i for approximately 47 years and is not affiliated with any political party. Ms. Bautista stated that the term ending date was incorrect in the Mayor's nomination letter. A motion was made and voted upon to correct the term ending date from June 30, 2019 to May 31, 2019. Several Council Members commented in favor of Mr. Rabin. The vote was then taken with eight Council Members voting "aye." Chair Eoff stated that Mr. Rabin did not need to appear at the Council meeting on June 7, 2017, for confirmation of his appointment. Pursuant to Article 3, Section 16-5 of the Hawai`i County Code, the Community Development Plan Action Committees shall consist of nine members, and shall be appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Council.
