REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON PLANNING DATE: May 16, 2017 Re: Comm. No. 276 PLACE: Council Chambers Hilo, Hawai`i TIME: 9:05 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 276, reports as follows: Communication No. 276, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated April 27, 2017, nominates Ms. Janice Palma-Glennie of Council District 7 to the Hawai`i County Kona Community Development Plan Action Committee. Ms. Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kim, introduced Ms. Palma-Glennie who appeared via videoconference from the Kona Council Office. Ms. Palma-Glennie has lived in Hawai`i for approximately 37 years and is not affiliated with any political party. Ms. Bautista stated that the term ending date was incorrect in the Mayor's nomination letter. A motion was made and voted upon to correct the term ending date from May 30, 2020 to May 31, 2020. Several Council Members commented in favor of Ms. Palma-Glennie. The vote was then taken with eight Council Members voting "aye." Chair Eoff stated that Ms. Palma-Glennie did not need to appear at the Council meeting on June 7, 2017, for confirmation of her appointment. Pursuant to Article 3, Section 16-5 of the Hawai`i County Code, the Community Development Plan Action Committees shall consist of nine members, and shall be appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Council.
