REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS AND <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION <br /> DATE: June 22, 2017 Re: Comm.No. 317 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 10:37 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation,to which was referred <br /> Communication No. 317, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 317, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated May 31, 2017, nominates <br /> Michael Doolittle of District 1 to the Veterans Advisory Committee. <br /> Mr. Doolittle is a retired independent real estate developer, investor, and businessman. He currently <br /> owns Mystic Palm Plantation, a veteran's vocational training center in Hakalau. He is a current <br /> member of the Hawai`i Island Veterans Memorial, Inc. If confirmed, he would serve a term ending <br /> December 31, 2021. <br /> Ms. Barbara Kossow, Deputy Managing Director to Mayor Kim, introduced Nominee Doolittle, <br /> who was present in the Hilo Council Chambers and communicating via videoconferencing. <br /> Mr. Doolittle offered a summary of his expertise and responded to questions from Council Members. <br /> Several Council Members commented in favor of Mr. Doolittle.
